Background

Maggie (she/her) is a graduate student at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Maggie has always had a passion for food and the way it connects us to ourselves and to our communities and so, pursued a Bachelor’s in Nutrition Science from North Carolina State University. After graduating, Maggie put her nutrition education to use in the hospitality field and offered nutrition counseling through a clinic in Texas. Her passion for food, for people, and her growing interest in the counseling component of her work drew her back to school to pursue a counseling degree. Maggie hopes to blend her background in nutrition with her experience and passion for therapy services for those struggling with eating disorders.

Philosophy

Maggie is a passionate, emerging counselor dedicated to helping individuals on their journey toward healing and personal growth. Maggie believes in the connection between the body, mind, and spirit; and is committed to creating a therapy space where clients can explore those connections and life’s big questions with support and safety. Maggie’s work focuses on empowering her clients to build and/or restore a relationship with themselves and with food that reflects a strengthened sense of self-worth and security. Maggie’s practice is founded on person-centered therapy and attachment theory. She incorporates modalities such as EFT, CBT, DBT, as well as strengths-based and relational psychodynamic approaches.

Joy

Maggie finds joy in spending time with family and friends, going to concerts, trying out new restaurants and recipes, long walks and hikes with her partner and pup, and reading a good book.
