Background

Kate (she/they) is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (LCSWA) and a graduate of CAS’ Fellowship Training Program. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master of Arts in Global Health from Arizona State University before obtaining her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Kate has experience working with individuals of all ages dealing with eating disorders, anxiety, self-esteem, and trauma-related challenges. Kate is passionate about working with individuals with eating disorders, neurodivergence, queer and trans folks, and older adults. She also loves working with couples, and specializes in work with queer and neurodivergent couples.

 

Philosophy

Kate’s approach draws from a mix of theoretical models including mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic theory, and relational theories.  Kate is committed to employing an anti-racist, anti-ableist, and healthateverysize lens. She is passionate about treating eating disorders, combatting eating disorder stigma, and empowering her clients to reach their goals within the support of a safe, therapeutic space.  

 

Joy

Kate finds joy in creating things, reading, spending time outside, and being around animals.

 

Kate sees clients in our SW Durham office and by Telehealth.
