Background

Jordyn (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (LCSWA) and a Psychotherapy Training Fellow at CAS. Jordyn has a background working with tweens, teens and young adults experiencing the impacts of traumatic experiences, anxiety and depression, body dissatisfaction and disordered eating in both group and individual therapeutic settings. Jordyn earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Youth Studies and Spanish Studies from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2021. She spent a year working with youth recovering from sexual exploitation and trafficking before continuing her education at UNC Chapel Hill, where she obtained a Masters of Social Work. Jordyn has a passion for working with LGBTQ+ identifying individuals, as well as young women and girls.

Philosophy

Jordyn believes in empowering clients through a lens encompassing eating disorder harm reduction, health at every size and a focus on strengths. She aims to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment, fostering connection, healing and growth that can be translated to relationships outside of the therapeutic space. Using a combination of Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, and Dialectical Behavioral approaches, Jordyn partners with her clients to develop insight and understanding of the ways in which the past is manifesting in current patterns. This process leads to new strategies for meeting the needs of both the previous and present self in healthy and helpful ways.

Joy

Jordyn finds joy in visiting national parks, figure skating, caring for houseplants, trying new restaurants and hanging out with her hairless cat (Skyn).
