Philosophy
Elaina’s therapeutic philosophy centers on creating meaningful transformation through evidence-based practices while honoring each client’s unique journey. She combines harm reduction principles with strength-based healing approaches. Her practice is built on the foundation that authentic human connection and collaborative partnership are essential to the therapeutic process. Drawing from diverse therapeutic modalities – including Psychodynamic theory, somatic bodywork, Acceptance and Commitment strategies, and Dialectical Behavioral techniques – Elaina helps clients explore how past experiences shape present challenges. She believes in a nurturing environment where clients feel safe to examine their stories, develop new insights, and build practical tools for change. Through this process, she maintains a strong commitment to cultural competence, recognizing how diverse backgrounds and experiences influence each person’s healing journey. Elaina aims to foster a space where authenticity is welcomed, challenges are met with compassion, and progress is celebrated. She believes that transformation occurs when clients feel truly seen, heard, and validated. By maintaining a flexible, collaborative approach, she supports clients in creating lasting change while honoring their paths to healing.
Joy
Elaina finds joy in losing herself in a good book, creating funky crochet projects, exploring new destinations, savoring her morning coffee ritual, hunting for unique finds at thrift stores, dancing to EDM music, and spending time with loved ones.
Elaina sees clients in our SW Durham office and by Telehealth.
